Editable default rates

The calculator currently uses 24.67p/kWh for a standard home electricity example, 8.7p/kWh for an off-peak EV tariff example, 7p/kWh for a cheap overnight example, 54p/kWh for public standard charging, and 79p/kWh for public rapid charging.

These are not live prices. Supplier-specific tariffs should be checked directly before switching, because standing charges, day rates, export rates, smart meter requirements, and overnight windows can change the overall value.

How to choose the right tariff

  • Estimate your annual mileage and how much charging you can do at home.
  • Check whether your car or charger can schedule charging during the cheap window.
  • Compare the full tariff, not only the overnight p/kWh number.
  • Use public charging assumptions for long journeys and occasional top-ups.
