kWh/100km and miles/kWh explained
Many EVs show energy use as kWh/100km. Lower is better. A figure of 18 kWh/100km means the car puts about 18 kWh into the battery to travel 100 km in those conditions. For UK drivers, miles/kWh is another common view: higher is better.
Charging losses mean the grid energy is higher than the battery energy. At 90% efficiency, every 9 kWh stored in the battery needs roughly 10 kWh from the wall.
